SANDRA ROTTMANN

I am a Peruvian-born American
of Romanian Jewish parents.
I was raised in Lima, and
live in Washington.
I speak Spanish, French, English,
and some Yiddish.
I don't feel that I belong
anywhere, especially
according to culture or language.
I am more of a permanent exile,
or outsider.
My place is the kind of space
where the internal world
and the external world coincide.
It is no place in particular.
It is a state of mind:
a moment of connection ...
with a person,
an animal, a landscape.
It could be
any where, any place,
any time.
